§ 01 — Regulatory Briefing
The Packaging & Packaging Waste Regulation replaces the 1994 Directive with binding, harmonised obligations across the EU. The deadlines are staggered — but the data model behind every report is the same.
Every packaging unit placed on the EU market needs a signed DoC referencing 14+ technical fields. Manual templates do not scale past pilot SKUs.
A 12-section dossier per product family — composition, recyclability assessment, supplier evidence, audit trail. Demanded by market surveillance authorities on request.
Plastic packaging targets: 30% rPET in contact-sensitive bottles, 35% in other plastic packaging. Calculation methods locked by a 2027 implementing act.

§ 02 — Product
A single typed packaging record drives every output: the recyclability grade, the Declaration of Conformity, and the EPR submission. Change a component, and the downstream artefacts re-derive — with full version history.
A typed packaging record is routed through 9 material streams and 42 rules to yield an A / B / C / D grade — with the rule trace surfaced for every component.
Field-gap detection runs before generation. PDF Declarations of Conformity ship with typed signatures and retention; the 12-section Technical File assembles from the same source of truth.
Period-frozen submissions for six national schemes — each with its own categories, modulation logic, and submission template. One snapshot, six valid filings.
§ 03 — Methodology
Every grade PackR8 emits is reproducible. The methodology — its streams, rules, and questionnaire — is stored as auditable JSON, semantically versioned, and referenced on every artefact. No black box, no surprise re-grades.
